National Healthcare Associated Infections (HAIs) Surveillance Guideline, 2023
Abstract
This guideline provides the national framework for the surveillance of healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) in Ethiopia. It outlines standardized case definitions, surveillance methodologies, reporting mechanisms, roles and responsibilities, and data use approaches to support infection prevention and control (IPC) programs across health facilities. The guideline aims to strengthen routine HAI surveillance, improve data quality and use, and inform evidence-based decision-making to reduce HAIs and improve patient safety nationally.
