Cubosomes In Drug Delivery: Formulation Strategies, Characterization Techniques, And Pharmaceutical Applications
Abstract
Cubosomes are square and rounded particles with visible cubic lattices that are self-assembling, nanostructured, and thermodynamically stable. Because of their characteristics, these systems are regarded as adaptable and can be administered orally, percutaneously, or parenterally. Cubosomes, which are composed of curved bicontinuous lipid bilayers divided into two internal aqueous channels, are arranged in three dimensions as honey-combed structures that can be utilized by a variety of bioactive components, including chemical medicines, peptides, and proteins. Because the lipid that forms the cubic phase is relatively insoluble in water, cubosomes are easily included into product formulations and stay stable at nearly any dilution level. An overview of cubosome structure, classification, properties, components, shapes, preparation techniques, assessment, and uses is provided in this article.
