Sattvavajaya. An Axiomatic Model of the Psyche and Psychopathology
Abstract
This monograph is devoted to the development and presentation of sattvavajaya as a coherent, formally axiomatic model of the psyche and psychopathology. It proposes an original theoretical and methodological approach to the description of mental processes, based on a strict distinction between consciousness as the ontological ground of experience and the psyche as a hierarchically organized system of functions. In contrast to the descriptive and symptom-oriented models dominant in contemporary psychology, sattvavajaya is formulated as an axiomatic system that includes initial postulates, the laws of psychopathology, and the inverse law of psychotherapy. Mental suffering is understood as a function of false identification (adhyasa) and the loss of discernment, which makes it possible to describe the dynamics of mental states in a formalized manner and to explain their fundamental reversibility.Particular attention is given to a process-oriented understanding of psychopathology, to differential diagnosis, to the analysis of iatrogenic distortions, and to the development of safe-therapy protocols. The proposed model integrates the principles of classical Vedic sources with the requirements of modern scientific methodology, without reducing the psyche to biological or behavioural mechanisms. The monograph is intended for specialists in theoretical psychology, psychotherapy, and the philosophy of consciousness, as well as for researchers interested in formal models of the psyche and in the development of comprehensive theoretical foundations for psychological knowledge.
