Abstract

Description This record presents Version 3 of the Ψ-Architecture, a foundational, axiomatic framework for adaptive stability in complex systems. The Ψ-Architecture introduces a flow-centered ontology in which stability is not achieved through optimization, control, or signal transmission, but emerges from architectural admissibility of coherent trajectories. Core Results No-Go Theorem for Optimization-Based StabilityIt is shown that optimization and control strategies are structurally unsustainable in complex adaptive systems beyond a finite complexity threshold. Instability arises not from insufficient control, but from architectural incompatibility. Invariant of Adaptive TimeThe framework introduces the invariantτ = R × C,where resistance (R) and capacity (C) must vary coordinately for autonomous stability to persist. Preservation of τ is shown to be a necessary condition for adaptive existence. Geometric Synchronization Without TransmissionSynchronization and coordinated dynamics are demonstrated to arise as a consequence of admissible phase–time geometry, without interaction, coupling, or information transfer. Ψ-OperatorThe Ψ-operator is defined as the temporal density of coherent intersections between independent system flows. Ψ is not a force, signal, or control variable, but an architectural predicate determining the realizability of invariant-preserving dynamics. Directional Invariant (New in Version 3)Version 3 introduces the Directional Invariant as a completing architectural principle. While Ψ defines the admissibility of coherent trajectories, the directional invariant selects which admissible Ψ-consistent trajectories become historically realized. This principle operates as a global, non-dynamical selector and does not introduce new entities, causal mechanisms, or metaphysical assumptions. Scope and Status Level I (Axiomatic Core):Formal definition of Ψ, τ, and the directional invariant as non-domain-specific architectural principles. Level II (Scientific Foundation):Architectural completion of the Ψ-framework, clarifying trajectory initialization and persistence prior to subject-level, cognitive, or applied interpretations. This record establishes the axiomatic and architectural foundation of the Ψ-Architecture and serves as the authoritative reference for priority, citation, and further theoretical or empirical extensions. Version Note Version: v3 Change log: Added formal definition of the Directional Invariant Completed architectural closure between admissibility (Ψ) and trajectory realization No changes to previously established theorems or invariants
