Light Without Apparatus: Man Ray and the Ontology of Autonomous Light
Abstract
This paper offers an ontological analysis of light in the rayographs of Man Ray, arguing that light operates not merely as an instrumental medium but as an autonomous agent of artistic production. The article reconsiders rayography as an event-based practice that challenges representational and anthropocentric models of authorship.
