Continuity & Resilience in the Aerospace Supply Chain: Lessons from Global Disruptions
Abstract
In complex supply chains, such as those in the aerospace industry, standard efficiency models often break down when systems are under stress. During global disruptions, resilience depends more on discipline, visibility, and execution than on advanced planning alone. This technical report examines continuity and resilience mechanisms within aerospace supply chains under conditions of global disruption. Drawing on operational realities observed during periods of systemic stress, the paper analyzes how efficiency-driven models can amplify fragility when supply networks face simultaneous constraints. The discussion emphasizes the transition from traditional planning to execution-focused coordination, highlighting prioritization, bottleneck management, supplier proximity, and real-time visibility as critical enablers of operational continuity. The report further explores how digital visibility tools support decision-making during crisis scenarios and how emergency response practices can evolve into long-term structural resilience. While grounded in aerospace supply chain dynamics, the principles discussed are broadly applicable to other industries operating in volatile and highly interconnected environments.
