Iran on the Edge: A People's Revolution Beyond Illusions
Abstract
This article examines Iran’s January 2026 uprising as part of a four-decade continuum of popular resistance against a patriarchal, theocratic, and authoritarian state. Drawing on historical analysis and lived experience, author argues that the regime’s crisis of legitimacy is structural and irreversible, and that the present movement represents a society-wide demand for dignity, freedom, and democratic self-determination beyond both foreign intervention narratives and leader-centered solutions.
