Triadic Invariant Safety Layers for Blockchain Operations
Abstract
Triadic Invariant Safety Layers for Blockchain OperationsA Fail-Closed Framework for DAO Treasuries, Governance, and Custodial ExecutionAbstractLarge-scale losses in blockchain ecosystems have repeatedly occurred despite the correctness of underlying consensus mechanisms. Post-incident analyses consistently indicate that failures arise not from ledger integrity, but from breakdowns in operational execution: compromised or misused keys, unsafe signing flows, misconfigured governance controls, or the continued execution of irreversible actions under conditions of uncertainty. This paper introduces a fail-closed safety framework for blockchain operations that treats high-impact execution as a provable state transition governed by invariants. The framework combines three elements: (i) a Triadic Security model separating Identity, Action, and Verification into independently checkable components; (ii) phase-governed execution (Φ0–Φ6) that constrains or halts irreversible actions as uncertainty rises; and (iii) closure certificates, which record execution boundaries and recovery decisions in an auditable yet non-sensitive form. The proposed architecture does not modify blockchain consensus rules, cryptographic primitives, or smart-contract semantics. Instead, it operates as an external execution safety layer that can wrap existing wallets, multisig systems, DAO treasuries, exchanges, and custodial workflows. By enforcing invariant proofs prior to execution and defaulting to denial under uncertainty, the framework aims to prevent catastrophic operational failures while remaining compatible with existing blockchain infrastructure.
