Abstract

EN The emergence of Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) is structurally nullifying the economic necessity of human labor. This transformation does not merely threaten employment; it destabilizes the foundational logic through which distribution is legitimized and human dignity is socially recognized. Modern capitalist systems have historically justified distribution through labor participation. In an AGI-dominated environment, this justification framework collapses. This paper argues that social order cannot be maintained after the disappearance of labor without a new legitimizing structure of contribution. As an alternative, it proposes Participation Labor Theory: a participation-based order grounded in experience, attention, event generation, and meaning production. Building upon prior work on the Guaranteed Memory Unit (GMU) and the Memory Economy, this study extends these frameworks into a post-labor distributional model suitable for AGI environments. This paper does not address technical implementation, policy mechanisms, or institutional design. Its sole purpose is to answer a foundational question: on what basis can humans remain legitimate, dignified participants in a society where labor is no longer required?
