EduATM: A Virtual ATM Simulation System
Abstract
Abstract—Using its simplicity, EduATM can be a practical model of routine banking activities in the classroom. It is a desktop software that simulates the functionality of an ATM i.e., account registration, validate logins, depositing money, withdrawing money, reviewing balances, printing mini statements as well as updating a PIN. It is wholly based on personal computers as opposed to physical machines in teaching. The front-end implements interactive screens through Java swing and MySQL controls information stored in the background. Transactions are predictable, meaning that their accuracy is retained in operations. Students have an opportunity to practice the creation of the graphical interfaces, connecting them to the databases, and performing operations that require control of sensitive actions. Instead of some abstract theory, learners are directly exposed to processes, which resemble real-life in the field of financial services.
