The Optical Method of Victor Vasarely and Lux Aeterna Theatre A Dialectics of Static Visuality and Dynamic Light-Based Form Generation
Abstract
This article presents a comparative and dialectical analysis of the optical method developed by Victor Vasarely and the LUX AETERNA Theatre technology, which emerged independently and in parallel beginning in 1975. Rather than comparing artistic forms or cultural significance, the study focuses on the optical method as a system for generating visual perception. Particular attention is given to the asymmetry between a canonized artistic practice and a later, less publicly visible optical research trajectory, as well as to the distinction between static pictorial structures and dynamic dramaturgical light environments. The article contributes to the reconsideration of Op Art not only as a historical artistic movement, but as a stage within a broader evolution of optical methods.
