The Milk Plate Experiment: A Physical Identification of Past, Present, and Future
Abstract
The nature of time—past, present, and future—has remained a central problem in physics and philosophy. While language divides time into three tenses, physical reality does not clearly support their independent existence. This paper presents a simple yet powerful experimental analogy using a plate of thick milk and a vertically placed bamboo stick in motion. Through spatial–temporal analysis, viscosity-based interaction modeling, and energy-transfer equations, it is demonstrated that only the present has physical existence. The past survives merely as residual deformation (memory), and the future exists only as unmanifested potential. The study strengthens the author's previously proposed Bead–Thread Theory and offers a present-centric scientific model of time.
