Quantum Superposition and Major Interpretations of Quantum Mechanics: Toward a Hypothesis of Two-Dimensional Time
Abstract
We propose a simple, unconventional hypothesis to reinterpret key quantum phenomena—especially “two paths at once” in Young’s double-slit experiment and nonclassical entanglement correlations—within an extended notion of time. Besides ordinary time t, we introduce a hidden internal coordinate s that is not directly observable macroscopically but may be active in quantum regimes. Superposition is described as a single quantum system having support at multiple s values while sharing the same observed t, so apparent path multiplicity becomes a projection effect when s is ignored. Measurement corresponds to progressively restricting access to s, yielding a single outcome.
