Loureiro closure model
Abstract
The Jarid–Loureiro Closure Model introduces a predictive temporal closure for magnetic reconnection and turbulence, completing the theoretical framework pioneered by Nuno Loureiro. It formulates coherence collapse as a measurable state variable governing reconnection onset and provides a closed-form equation linking magnetic flux, turbulence amplitude, and coherence decay time. Numerical simulations validate its predictive stability across fusion and astrophysical plasma conditions, offering a unified, falsifiable model for controlled fusion and solar reconnection phenomena. This work bridges theory and control, enabling preemptive confinement stabilization and real-time collapse forecasting.
