Meaning Preservation Under Invariant-Based Compression
Abstract
This paper develops a formal account of meaning preservation under invariant-based compression. When a construct is defined by invariants rather than descriptive detail, its semantic identity is preserved under compression if and only if those invariants are preserved. Compression is modeled as projection into a lower-bit-rate representational space, and meaning is shown to correspond to constraint geometry rather than descriptive content. The framework applies across language, abstraction, theory construction, and symbolic representation, with invariant-aligned naming illustrated using real-world technical acronyms.
