EchoMind: An Acoustic-First Bio-Inspired Multi-Robot Intelligence Framework for Zero-Visibility Post-Disaster Search and Structural Risk Assessment
Abstract
EchoMind is a bio-inspired, acoustic-first multi-robot framework designed for post-disaster environments with zero visibility. Unlike traditional vision-dependent systems, EchoMind leverages acoustic sensing, vibration analysis, and swarm intelligence to locate survivors and assess structural risks in complex, debris-filled scenarios. The framework integrates heterogeneous robotic agents specializing in acoustic mapping, structural resonance analysis, and human bio-signal detection. Real-time perception is achieved through lightweight acoustic transformers and spiking neural networks, enabling energy-efficient operation. Simulation results demonstrate improved detection speed, structural assessment accuracy, and system resilience compared to vision-based approaches. This research contributes to advancing autonomous search and rescue robotics under challenging environmental conditions.
