The Universal Law of Striving Toward Equilibrium (A Unifying Principle Across Physics, Chemistry, and Astronomy)
Abstract
This work presents The Universal Law of Striving Toward Equilibrium, a unifying conceptual principle proposed to underlie diverse physical phenomena across classical and modern physics. The central idea is that any physical process arises only in the presence of imbalance, and that motion, interaction, and energy transfer persist solely as long as systems strive to restore equilibrium. Rather than introducing new forces or modifying established equations, the paper reframes existing theories—classical mechanics, thermodynamics, electrodynamics, general relativity, and quantum theory—by identifying imbalance as the fundamental origin of observable dynamics. Gravitation is interpreted as a macroscopic manifestation of energetic imbalance, light propagation as the redistribution of localized energy toward spatial equilibrium, and thermal, electrical, and atomic processes as specific realizations of the same universal tendency. The work is primarily conceptual and integrative in nature. It demonstrates that the proposed law is fully compatible with established physical frameworks while operating at a higher interpretative level. By shifting focus from forces to imbalance and equilibration, the paper offers a coherent perspective that connects phenomena across scales—from atomic transitions to cosmological structure formation—without contradicting accepted physical theory. This contribution is intended for researchers and students interested in foundational questions of physics, conceptual unification, and the philosophical interpretation of physical laws.
