BRASIL–BABYLON How to Prosper Without Losing the Soul
Abstract
BRASIL–BABYLON: How to Prosper Without Losing the Soul is a philosophical and practical essay that examines prosperity, work, money, and spiritual integrity within contemporary capitalist society — particularly from a Brazilian and Global South perspective. Rather than offering motivational formulas or promises of quick success, the book proposes a critical reading of what the author calls “Babylon”: a systemic logic that converts time, attention, desire, and even identity into performance, productivity, and consumption. The work explores how modern individuals are subtly transformed into functional machines through anxiety, acceleration, comparison, and the cult of optimization. Against this backdrop, the book presents an alternative path: the construction of structural prosperity without sacrificing inner life, ethical clarity, or human presence. Drawing from philosophy, cultural critique, spirituality, and lived experience, BRASIL–BABYLON argues that true prosperity is not merely financial accumulation, but the capacity to build economic stability while remaining whole — resisting burnout, moral erosion, and spiritual emptiness. This book is intended for readers interested in critical theory, contemporary philosophy, economics of attention, spiritual resistance, and ethical approaches to wealth and work in the 21st century. The present upload corresponds to the complete Portuguese edition of the book, archived for long-term preservation, citation, and academic reference.
