Abstract

This document describes a cluster of environmental containment functions that regulate load at planetary and ecological scales. Rather than framing the environment as a resource, backdrop, or moral object, the document treats environmental systems as active containment structures that absorb, distribute, and terminate energy, waste, and disruption. Failure arises when environmental containment capacity is exceeded or bypassed, producing downstream instability that is often misattributed to local behaviour or policy failure. This document is descriptive only and does not propose environmental policy, remediation strategies, or governance interventions.
