Gold, Fiat Money, and the Loss of Fiscal Discipline
Abstract
Gold, Fiat Money, and the Loss of Fiscal Discipline Author: Gold Lover Abstract The replacement of gold with fiat money fundamentally transformed government behavior. Under gold, states were constrained by physical scarcity, trade balance, and public tolerance for taxation. Under fiat, those constraints disappeared. Fiat money does not merely enable modern finance — it structurally produces reckless government spending, permanent debt, and war without consent. Gold was not abandoned because it failed, but because it restrained empire by making lies, deficits, and wars immediately costly.
