Adaptive Facilities Management Frameworks for Leisure and Resort Architecture: A Literature Review on Operational Resilience, Guest Experience, and Lifecycle Performance
Abstract
Adaptive facilities management frameworks in leisure and resort architecture integrate design decisions with operational strategies to enhance resilience, guest satisfaction, and lifecycle performance. This literature review synthesises current FM practices, examining how architectural choices influence maintenance efficiency, material durability, and energy consumption. Key findings highlight the progression from reactive to predictive maintenance, the critical role of lifecycle costing in design decisions, and the efficacy of digital FM tools (BMS/CAFM) in optimising operations. The review addresses FM service delivery models, climate and pandemic resilience strategies, and sustainability operations. For Indian resort contexts, the integration of proactive FM planning with architectural design from inception is essential for balancing operational efficiency with guest-centric hospitality in an evolving market.
