Abstract

We compared the tumor suppression program blindly and completely in human cells of the breast to understand the most essential similarities and differences between the p53 and PTEN tumor suppressors. Separate from unique control of tumor suppressors like Rb1 and Nf1, p53 and PTEN shared energy homeostasis regulation through selective control of AKT1-3. Metabolic control of cellular fitness that shapes oncogenicity shaped by tumor suppression was similarly selectively and separately controlled by p53 and PTEN through malic enzyme ME1-3 and the succinate pathway adaptors SUCLG1 and SUCLG2.
