Resetting Intuition with an Ice-Cream Field: Why the Second Moment Is the Only Mystery
Abstract
Human intuition is strongly shaped by object-centric narratives: an object exists, it ismoved, and it is consumed. Yet many everyday experiences quietly violate this simplepicture. This paper introduces an imagined ice-cream field to reset intuition aboutcontinuity, interaction, and transfer. Using a simple three-moment scenario—a womanpossessing ice cream, later tasting it in her mouth—we show that the only conceptualdifficulty lies in the second moment. By reframing the process as interaction with a fieldrather than transport of a discrete object, the mystery dissolves. The example serves as apedagogical bridge for broader physical intuition resets, including those required whenconfronting non-particle, non-object-centric descriptions of reality.
