Manual de Intervención Aplicada (II). Líneas de actuación frente al discurso de odio religioso para ONG's y agentes socioeducativos
Abstract
Hate speech in digital environments is neither an isolated nor a spontaneous phenomenon. It is activated at specific moments, focuses on particular topics, and takes various forms, from expressions of everyday incivility to direct attacks and threats. In this context, non-governmental organizations occupy a unique position, as they combine monitoring the digital space with direct work with affected individuals and communities. Faced with this reality, the response cannot be improvised or limited to isolated complaints. This manual synthesizes and translates into clear and applicable guidelines the main findings of the HatemediaReligion study (PC-24-0050), funded by the Pluralism and Coexistence Foundation and carried out by the International University of La Rioja through Hatemedia, with the aim of guiding NGOs and socio-educational agents in the detection, intervention, and support of hate speech in digital environments. The aim is to offer clear criteria and operational tools that enable swift, proportionate, and coordinated action, strengthening both immediate response capacity and medium- and long-term educational and community work. In this way, NGOs and socio-educational agents can transform the knowledge generated by research into concrete actions to support, prevent, and strengthen coexistence.
