A microbiome genome-wide association study of the vaginal microbiota in three Spanish sheep breeds (Dataset)
Abstract
This dataset contains the host genotype data, 16S rRNA amplicon sequencing data and metadata supporting the study “A microbiome genome-wide association study of the vaginal microbiota in three Spanish sheep breeds”. 1. Microbiota Sequencing Data (16S rRNA) The dataset includes sequencing data from vaginal microbiota samples collected from 242 ewes belonging to three Spanish breeds. Platform: Illumina MiSeq. Target: V3–V4 region of the 16S rRNA gene (primers 341F/785R), Illumina MiSeq 2 × 300 bp paired-end; one pair of FASTQ files (R1/R2) per ewe, named with the Ewe_ID. Content: The compressed file contains the raw sequences used to profile microbial communities and identify associations with the host genome. 2. Host Genotype Data (SNP Chip) Host genotypes were obtained with the Illumina Ovine HD BeadChip (606K SNPs) for the 242 ewes analysed. The file genotipos_ewe.zip contains the genotypes in PLINK additive format (.raw), in which each genotype is coded as the number of copies of the counted allele (0, 1 or 2) and missing genotypes as NA. 3. Phenotypic Metadata The dataset includes a tab-separated file (metadata_ewes.tsv) containing phenotypic and reproductive data for the ewes analysed in the study. The file contains one row per ewe with the following variables: Ewe_ID: identifier for each ewe. Breed: Latxa, Manchega, or Rasa (Rasa Aragonesa). Ultrasound_diagnosis: Transabdominal ultrasound diagnosis (Positive / Negative). Lambing: Lambing recorded (Positive / Negative). Pregnancy_status: The pregnancy status used in the article, based on ultrasound diagnosis corrected with lambing records.
