On the Ethical Overreach of Neuroscientific Narratives of Awareness
Abstract
This work presents a position rather than a theory or model, examining the ethical limits of contemporary neuroscientific narratives of awareness. Rather than opposing neuroscience, the book identifies moments where explanatory frameworks silently exceed their descriptive role, replacing lived experience with interpretation, normalization, or synthesis. Through a structured analysis of reduction, therapeuticization, synthesis, pareidolia, authority, and positional ethics, the work argues for preserving the primacy of experience as the point of departure. This book offers no solutions or prescriptions. It marks a limit—beyond reduction, therapy, and synthesis.
