Parivaar (परवर): A Text-First, Anonymity-Preserving Platform for Collective Social Protection
Abstract
Social injustice, discrimination, and silent harm often remain undocumented due to fear of retaliation, social stigma, and the design incentives of modern social media platforms that prioritize virality over truth. This paper presents Parivaar, a minimalist, text-first social documentation platform inspired by the Indian philosophical principle Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam—"the world is one family." Parivaar is designed as a collective social memory system where individuals can anonymously record lived experiences of injustice so that recurring patterns can be identified and future harm prevented. Unlike conventional platforms, Parivaar deliberately removes images, likes, follower counts, and engagement metrics, reframing social technology from attention extraction to protection-oriented knowledge sharing. This paper details the motivation, conceptual framework, system design, ethical considerations, implementation using web technologies, and future AI-assisted extensions of Parivaar as a research artifact in human-centered and ethical computing.
