Abstract

Abstract The campus life is a big part of the student life that affects the academic performance of the students socialization and the growth of a student. Nevertheless, the majority of educational institutions do not have an exclusive digital platform that can help the students to make their experiences and express their opinions and participate in meaningful discussions related to the campuses. Social media that are currently in use are generic and tend to cause a distraction and privacy issues. This paper proposes CampusVerse in order to overcome this drawback and offer an alternative platform where student bloggers and communities can interact. The system is proposed to be based on personal blogging and the community of interest and to be used in the campus to ensure an inclusivity of interaction and peer learning and emotional support. CampusVerse is a client-server model with such properties as secure user authentication, creation and management of blogs, community discussion with comments, content moderation and administration. The implementation of the platform is based on the use of modern web technologies, and it makes it scaled, responsive, and data-secure. The experimental assessment and user test prove that CampusVerse can help to make students more engaged, stimulate active discussion participation, and feel belonging within the community of CampusVerse users. The findings show that a university-specific blogging and community platform would provide a safer, more topical and organised alternative to the generic social media systems.
