Abstract

The academic communities around the world have suffered serious constraints regarding research budget cuts over the past few years. The disciplines that have been dealt a major blow belong to the humanities and social sciences, as many governments mulled the “practicality or usefulness” of research results. The issues have worsened with issues related to generative AI, as described in a recent article in Times Higher Education by Piotrowska [1]. Let’s not dive into the questions of credibility or the consequences of stripping the resources from HSS research, but look at what else HSS researchers, especially ECRs, can do to survive the troubled times.
