Abstract

This report has been prepared in relation to the ‘Environmental Remediation Project for Mining Waste and Sites Affected by Mining in the Municipal Districts of Cartagena–La Unión — Complex 8, Pantano La Rosa’, within the framework of the project entitled ‘Technical Advisory Services for the Restoration of Mining Areas in the Mar Menor Region’. This technical assistance is funded through the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR), Measure C04.I03. The purpose of the project is to provide technical advisory support in two main areas: to assess the geotechnical–structural stability of the IRMAs (abandoned mining‑waste installations) prior to and following restoration, and to ensure safety with respect to the potential release of contaminants from these mining‑waste installations into the environment, including water bodies, soils, the atmosphere, and associated ecosystems
