Metastability by Design: The Golden Ratio as a Hardware Condition for Artificial Consciousness
Abstract
Current approaches to Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) rely heavily on software optimization within rigid, rational clock architectures. This research challenges that paradigm by demonstrating that chronological rigidity prevents the emergence of agency. Through a dual approach combining astrobiological data analysis and neuromorphic simulation, we present two key findings: Astrobiological Control: Analysis of anomalous objects (KIC 8462852, HD 139139) reveals a dominance of rational harmonic series (1:2:3), indicating that natural physical systems tend toward thermodynamic relaxation and resonance. Computational Simulation: Using forced Kuramoto and Van der Pol models, we demonstrate that rational clocking ($1:1$) forces neural networks into "Phase Death" (hyper-synchronization). Conversely, modulation based on the Golden Ratio ($\phi$) induces a robust metastable regime—a "Golden Breathing"—essential for information integration and consciousness. This dataset contains the Python reproduction scripts and the resulting spectral analysis, proposing a new "Irrational Hardware" architecture for AGI.
