Abstract

It is true that human interaction can play a significant role in the learning process. The lack of these interactions in e-learning can lead to feelings of isolation and disengagement among learners. Several researchers have proposed gamified e-learning system model as an effective way to increase learners' motivation by providing them with autonomy, relatedness, and competence. Basing on literature, we can divide gamification models into three categories:- The "one size fits all" model where the game elements and mechanics are pre-determined and applied to all learners in a fixed manner.- The static adaptation models refer to a gamification approach where the game elements and mechanics are pre-determined and applied to all learners in a fixed manner, according to their profile.- The dynamic adaptation models refer to an approach of gamification where mechanics are adapted in real-time to the learners' changing needs. In order to help designers of gamified learning management systems to better maintain the learner’s motivation, we propose a new model for a gamified learning system that incorporates game elements using the three models explained above. This model aims to address the limitations of traditional e-learning platforms by providing a more engaging and personalized learning experience for students.
