Structure Before Force: Harmonic Eigenmodes as Primary Geometric Constraints
Abstract
Physical observations are often interpreted through force-based or dynamical narratives. However, many observational domains are fundamentally constrained before any force description is applicable. In this paper we formalize a structure-first framework by demonstrating that fields defined on closed geometries admit a discrete set of globally admissible modes determined solely by geometry. Using the eigenfunctions of the Laplace–Beltrami operator on the sphere as a canonical example, we show that harmonic mode structure precedes and constrains any subsequent dynamical interpretation. Forces, interactions, and causal narratives operate only within this pre-existing structural permission set. This record includes an accompanying framework overview file that provides reading context and scope clarification for the associated technical paper. The overview introduces no new claims and is included to guide interpretation and navigation of related works.
