Method for Asynchronous Transaction Reconciliation in Intermittent Network Environments Using Hash-Chained Logs
Abstract
This disclosure outlines a method for reconciling financial transactions executed on offline-first mobile devices in regions with unstable telecommunications infrastructure. The proposed system utilizes a local, append-only hash chain to store transaction records on a client device during periods of network unavailability. Unlike traditional "store-and-forward" mechanisms, this method binds each transaction to the immediate predecessor using a cryptographic hash, creating an immutable local ledger. Upon the restoration of Wide Area Network (WAN) connectivity, the device transmits the batch chain to a central server. The server validates the integrity of the chain using the last known state hash, allowing for the detection of inserted, deleted, or re-ordered transactions without requiring real-time server authorization.
