Abstract

Analyses of this dataset are presented in the following scientific journal article: Wilhelm, C. et al. (2026). From degradation to (re)magnetization: magnetic reprogramming of maghemite (Massart), magnetite, cobalt ferrite and ferrihydrite nanoparticles by human stem cells. The data contains magnetic measurements of human stem cells treated with four different types of nanoparticles. Data was stored in long-format tables using relevant parameters as individual columns. Double prime symbols ("") in this description mark abbreviations used in the dataset. The data was collected with a Vibrating Sample Magnetometer (VSM) at high fields ("high"; 0-3 T; only ascending magnetic field) and low fields ("low"; -150 - 150 mT; full hysteresis loop). Nanoparticles that were applied to the cells included: maghemite magnetite (6 nm & 9 nm diameters) cobalt-ferrite ("co-ferrite") ferrihydrite ("FH") Maghemite, magnetite, cobalt-ferrite were applied to cells under biosynthesis conditions (data that is not labelled otherwise) and under conditions known for biodegradation of iron-oxide nanoparticles (data labelled "chondro"). Ferrihydrite was applied to cells cultured under biosynthesis conditions ("Adipo") and in medium keeping them undifferentiated ("MSC"). See publication for further details.
