Ethics of Continuation: A Systems Framework for Value Without Teleology
Abstract
This working paper derives an ethical framework from the dynamics of persistence in complex systems. Ethics is defined as the preservation of conditions that allow continued becoming, rather than compliance with moral rules or intended outcomes. The framework distinguishes generative patterns that expand future possibility from parasitic patterns that consume their own conditions of viability.
