Abstract

We present evidence here for widespread epigenetic silencing in ulcerative colitis. Dnmt1, Ep300 and Ep400 were all among the genes most significantly silenced transcriptome-wide in ulcerative colitis compared to healthy controls, in the blood. The data describe an epigenetic silencing event governed by a maintenance DNA methyltransferase in inflammatory bowel disease.
