Why is the D-dimer cutoff set at 500 ng/mL?
Abstract
The D-dimer cutoff of 500 ng/mL is a well-supported threshold for excluding thrombotic conditions such as PE and DVT, but it has limitations in specificity, particularly in older populations, leading to increased consideration of age-adjusted cutoffs.
