Quantum Mechanics as Boundary Physics
Abstract
We propose that quantum mechanics is not fundamental physics but boundary physics: the behavior that emerges at interfaces between internally continuous coherent systems. The mechanism supporting this claim is frequency as counting: what we call "frequency" is a cycle-count rate, and Planck's constant h is the universal boundary action threshold governing discrete exchange. This makes ℰ = hν a dimensional identity rather than a mysterious postulate. The framework derives Bose-Einstein statistics from E1P coherence dynamics (g₊(n) = n+1 from quadratic coherence structure), Maxwell-Boltzmann statistics from fragmented coherence (g₊(n) = 1), and provides a continuous interpolation via coherence-overlap parameter α with falsifiable prediction g⁽²⁾(0) = 1 + α. Concrete experimental protocols and parameter targets for circuit QED and trapped-ion platforms are specified. Independent convergence with the Quantum Toll Framework strengthens the case for boundary-centric approaches to quantum foundations.
