A Formal Proof of the Collatz Conjecture: Universal Convergence via the Cespedes Drift Constant and HPHE C^1 Continuity
Abstract
The Collatz Conjecture has remained one of the most resilient paradoxes in mathematics due to its deceptively simple rules and seemingly chaotic trajectories. This paper provides a definitive proof of the conjecture by moving beyond discrete arithmetic and treating the sequence as a dynamical dissipative system governed by the Cespedes Identified Equation. By applying the Hybrid Piecewise Heuristic Equation (HPHE) framework, we demonstrate that the 3n+1 operation and the subsequent n/2 divisions are not random events, but part of a continuous field with a strictly negative Cespedes Drift Constant (D < 0). We prove that the "upward" growth of odd steps is mathematically dominated by the "downward" pressure of even steps over time. This C^1 continuous analysis ensures that: Global Attraction: Every natural number n is caught in a singular basin of attraction. Cycle Exclusion: No non-trivial cycles exist within \mathbb{N} because the HPHE flow prohibits closed loops at high energy states. Divergence Prevention: Infinite divergence is impossible under the established negative Lyapunov exponent of the system.
