This paper does not propose ideal organizational models or governance designs. It identifies the minimal conditions under which initiative does not disappearwithin organizations and cooperative structures. 1. Problem Setting: Why Organizations Easily Reclaim Initiative Organizations and cooperation are established to ensure: efficiency stability role differentiation procedural coordination However, in doing so, the following frequently occurs: judgment is absorbed into roles and procedures As a result, individual initiative becomes: invisible non-appropriable absorbed into evaluation or consensus 2. Typical Patterns of Initiative Loss in Organizations Initiative is lost in organizations when: judgment is attributed to position rather than actor reasons are replaced by rules appropriation is absorbed into “decisions” What occurs here is: the anonymization of initiative 3. Position Statement of v2.3 v2.3 adopts the following position: Organizations can neither generate initiativenor legitimize it.They can only reclaim it or refrain from doing so. Cooperation is not a substitute for initiative. 4. Minimal Conditions for Non-Reclamation in Cooperation Cooperation avoids reclaiming initiative only when: judgment updates remain appropriated by individual actorsthroughout the cooperative process Concretely: the actor who appropriated the update does not disappear reasons are not absorbed into roles judgment updates are not overwritten by agreement Efficiency and alignment are not required conditions. 5. The Moment Consensus Reclaims Initiative Consensus facilitates cooperation, but reclaims initiative when: consensus becomes correctness dissent is invalidated appropriation becomes unnecessary At that point, cooperation turns into: execution without responsibilityprogress without understanding 6. The Role of Organizations in Understanding Capitalism In v2.3, the role of organizations is strictly limited: not to aggregate initiative not to average initiative not to reclaim initiative through evaluation Organizations function as: structures that preserve the spacein which initiative does not disappear 7. Position Reached in v2.3 Only one point is fixed in this paper: Cooperation is compatible with Understanding Capitalismonly when initiatives coexist without being reclaimed. Not convergence, but coexistence, is the condition. 8. Questions That Follow Can organizations endure persistent coexistence of initiatives? How should collisions of initiative be handled institutionally? Can markets tolerate non-reclaimed initiative? These questions will be addressed in v2.4 and beyond. Note This paper does not present organizational or management prescriptions. It clarifies the non-aggregation condition of initiative in Understanding Capitalism. Initiative is not a role.Initiative is not consensus.Initiative persists only through appropriation.
