Intelligent Learning Companions: Effects on Study Habits and Psychological Comfort.
Abstract
This research paper explores the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) companions in supporting learning discipline while considering their impact on human psychology. With the increasing use of AI-based tools such as intelligent tutors, study assistants, and conversational agents, there is a growing need to understand how these systems influence students’ study habits, motivation, and mental well-being. The study is based on a small-scale survey of 20 participants, focusing on how AI tools affect learning consistency, pressure levels, and emotional responses during the learning process. Rather than enforcing rigid monitoring or control, the research emphasizes a human-centered approach, where AI acts as a supportive companion that encourages discipline without causing stress or psychological discomfort. The findings suggest that when designed thoughtfully, AI companions can help learners maintain regular study routines, improve focus, and develop self-discipline, while minimizing negative psychological effects such as anxiety or pressure. This paper aims to contribute to the discussion on ethical and psychologically aware AI design in education, especially from a student and beginner-researcher perspective. This work is intended as an exploratory, student-level research contribution and may serve as a foundation for future studies on AI-assisted learning systems and their long-term psychological impact.
