Abstract

Microemulsion systems for oral delivery of poorly water-soluble active pharmaceutical ingredient, specifically Nabumentone. Microemulsion, self microemulsifying drug delivery system (SMEDDS) and solid SMEDDS were designed and developed to enhance the solubility and bioavailability of Nabumetone.capmulMCM/Tween 20/PEG 400 and capmul MCM/Tween80/PEG400 system were employed to formulate miroemulsion and SMEEDS,respectively. The optimized liquid SMEEDS formulation was converted into a free flowing powder using solid carriers. The study characterized the drugs using FTIR and UV spectroscopy and determined their solubility in various oils,surfactant,co-surfactants.The results demonstrate the potential of microemulsion and SMEEDS to enhance the solubility and bioavailability of poorly water-soluble drugs.
