Information Processing Rate Conservation as the Origin of Relativistic Kinematics
Abstract
We demonstrate that the fundamental postulates of special relativity—time dilation, length contraction, and the constancy of light speed—can be derived from a single underlying principle: theconservation of information processing rate (IPRC). By formulating IPRC as a universal bound onquantum circuit complexity growth, we obtain Lorentz invariance without presupposing the continuityof spacetime. This framework predicts a Planck-scale modification to photon dispersion withparameter ξ = −0.95 ± 0.03, which differs from the predictions of other quantum gravity proposals.Numerical simulations (tensor networks, quantum Monte Carlo) and preliminary experimentalanalysis of gamma-ray burst data are consistent with our predictions. We further outline a pathwayto derive Einstein’s field equations from IPRC and the holographic principle, suggesting quantuminformation may provide a foundational framework for spacetime physics and gravity.
