Data and R code for population density estimation in Garthen et al. (2026): Distance-based population density estimates from camera traps
Abstract
These data and R code were used in the experiments reported in the manuscript “Distance-based population density estimates from camera traps: Strong impact of technical choices in automated pipelines. The R code estimates population densities of red deer (Cervus elaphus) in the Veldensteiner Forest, Germany, using camera trap distance sampling and performs sensitivity analyses by varying parameter configurations within the pipeline. The input data (distance data) were produced using monocular depth estimation (see https://github.com/slds-lmu/wildlife-experiments-server/releases/tag/v1.0.0).
