Low Dose Naltrexone for Topical Steroid Rebound Phenomena: Calcium Channels and Terrain Repair
Abstract
This handout presents a mechanistic overview of Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN) in the context of Topical Steroid Rebound Phenomena (TSRP). It reframes LDN’s known immunoregulatory and anti-inflammatory effects through the lens of pericyte function and calcium signaling, highlighting two key ion channels—TRPM3 and TRPC3—as mechanistic anchors. Each pathway is mapped to pericyte behavior with formally referenced literature, positioning pericytes as the central coordinating cell type across immune, vascular, and barrier systems. Designed for clinical researchers, physiologists, and translational scientists, this document serves as both an educational resource and a reference-ready companion to broader terrain-focused frameworks.
