Abstract

This work presents an application of the ZIP Framework to publicly available models of the Extragalactic Background Light (EBL). The ZIP Framework introduces an informational and entropic interpretation of physical fields, treating entropy as a measurable structural property rather than as a statistical artifact. Standard EBL model outputs such as spectral intensities, energy densities, luminosity densities, and gamma-ray optical depths are analyzed as evolving distributions parameterized by cosmological redshift. Redshift is interpreted as an evolution parameter analogous to time, allowing the definition of ZIP entropy, entropic flow, and a structural index as functions of cosmic history. The purpose of this work is not to modify, challenge, or replace the underlying cosmological assumptions or physical interpretations of existing EBL models. Instead, it demonstrates that the same model outputs encode an additional, complementary layer of informational structure that can be quantified independently of energy-based descriptions. All data used in this analysis are publicly available, and the ZIP methodology is applied strictly as a post-processing diagnostic framework. This contribution is intended as a companion interpretative work illustrating the transferability of the ZIP Framework from geophysical and plasma systems to cosmological radiation fields.
