Abstract

This companion note extends the Dual-Field Interface Model (DFIM) by demonstrating its compatibility with the "Top-Down Cosmology" proposed by Stephen Hawking and Thomas Hertog. We propose that the density-dependent weld (κ) in DFIM acts as the physical mechanism for their concept of "Quantum Darwinism," where the universe selects its effective laws locally rather than globally. Key theoretical insights: The "Selector" Mechanism: We show that the strain-dependent leakage term (δΓ) in DFIM mimics quantum selection: dynamic regions explore new physics (high variation), while stable regions "freeze" the effective constants (low variation). Mathematical Alignment: We derive the extremal limit for the modified Hawking temperature (T′→0 as rs2→4β), proving that the "weld" physically halts quantum evolution at the Planck scale. This mirrors Hawking-Hertog’s concept of a "final, selected geometry." Resolution of Fine-Tuning: By tying effective constants (ceff,Λ) to the interface tension, DFIM naturally explains why different regions (voids vs. clusters) appear to have different expansion histories without invoking a Multiverse.
