Atmospheric Electrical Discharges as Entropic Reorganization: A ZIP Framework Perspective
Abstract
This work presents an entropic-informational interpretation of atmospheric electrical discharges within the ZIP Framework. While the macroscopic conditions governing discharge initiation and energetic scale are relatively well understood, the precise spatial trajectories of electrical discharges remain fundamentally unpredictable. Rather than attributing this unpredictability to incomplete modeling or insufficient data, the present work interprets it as an intrinsic property of nonlinear, entropically structured atmospheric systems. Within the ZIP Framework, electrical discharges are understood as emergent realizations of local entropic reorganization in an informationally constrained field. The work does not introduce new physical laws, particles, or predictive models, nor does it modify classical electrodynamics or plasma physics. Its contribution is explicitly interpretative, offering a coherent conceptual explanation for the observed limits of predictability while remaining fully compatible with established physics. By explicitly connecting atmospheric electrical discharges with ionospheric dynamics and broader ZIP applications, this paper situates lightning phenomena within a unified cross-scale interpretative framework for open, driven physical systems.
