Abstract

Phantasy Star Online Episode I & II and the Dawn of the Ambient Era Subtitle: PSO and the Thermodynamics of Collapse: The Hidden Ontology of Humane AI This manuscript presents a structural and thermodynamic reading of Phantasy Star Online Episode I & II as the first cultural artifact encoding the necessity of environment for intelligence. It interprets the game not as narrative fiction, but as a pre-technological model of non-inferential intelligence, reversible stress, and ambient architecture. The work positions PSO as a proto-ambient system and a precursor to humane AI design, introducing a climate-based grammar for intelligence, presence, and survivability.
